Apprentice & Journeyman Electrician

About the Role

ICON Electric is seeking experienced 3rd and 4th year Apprentice Electricians and Journeyman Electricians to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with strong commercial electrical experience, a solid understanding of electrical systems, and a desire to continue growing in their career.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial electrical systems while maintaining a high standard of safety, quality, and professionalism.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in commercial electrical systems.
  • Work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Plan and perform installation and maintenance of electrical systems, including lighting systems, lighting controls, switchgear, branch and feeder installation, motors and motor controls, and device installation.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, details, one-line diagrams, installation manuals, and specifications.
  • Install electrical systems in accordance with project specifications, company standards, and NEC requirements.
  • Manage, track, and order materials needed for assigned installations or service work.
  • Apply a strong understanding of electrical theory to daily work.
  • Communicate professionally with customers to understand and resolve electrical issues.
  • Coordinate with office staff regarding scheduling, material ordering, job progress, and project tracking.
  • Follow all job site safety procedures, company policies, and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of NFPA 70E arc flash and hot work procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Apprentice Electrician
  • 5-10 years of experience preferred for Journeyman Electrician candidates
  • Previous experience with electrical service and maintenance work preferred
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe work practices
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
  • Knowledge of electrical materials, components, equipment, systems, layout, and installation methods
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and written specifications
  • Ability to review and understand construction schedules
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Electrical apprenticeship, accredited electrical training program, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent training required
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred
  • 5-10 years of electrical construction industry experience preferred for Journeyman-level candidates
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, with overtime as needed
  • Ability to safely lift and carry at least 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to work in person at assigned job sites
  • Ability to perform physical duties commonly required in commercial electrical work
