Position Summary

Plan, lay-out and install all necessary rigging components for lifting and installing equipment, machinery, pipe, steel, and other structures in accordance with all plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Set up and rig large-scale heavy equipment.
  • Position, align, or level machines, equipment, and structures.
  • Shake out items to be installed into erectable sequence and rig them for crane hoisting with a thorough knowledge and use of crane signals.
  • Guide rigged items into position using a tag line.
  • Estimate sizes, distances, quantities, time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
  • Inspect subordinate work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies, explain them, and take corrective action needed.
  • Select rigging components and develop basic rigging procedures for general load handling activities.
  • Identify suitable rigging points for the load to be handled and select the rated rigging based on its anticipated tension.
  • Maintain working understanding of LHE dynamics and their associated hazards.

Requirements

  • Skilled
  • Experience as a Rigger Journeyman in a Power Plant / Industrial setting
  • Must possess working knowledge skills and abilities for position
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management and supervision
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently
  • Ability to constantly move about a construction or industrial site and stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Ability to work in changing outdoor weather conditions
  • Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required
  • Ability to use ladders, mechanical platforms, manlifts, or scaffold to access required equipment and work areas and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds
  • Ability to move and work in and around confined and cluttered places and uneven surfaces
  • Ability to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
  • Ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across a construction or industrial site
  • Must have required tools
  • May require U.S. Driver License
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing
  • Ability to pass fit for duty testing
