Journeyman Electrician Job Description

Experienced commercial electrician responsible for supporting the construction of a new data center facility. Primary duties include installing trapeze supports, assembling and installing prefab electrical components, and preparing infrastructure for large-scale electrical systems. Work includes both current tasks and upcoming phases, such as core & shell electrical installation, underground systems, and temporary power distribution.

Responsibilities for Journeyman Electrician

  • Install trapeze hangers, cable tray supports, and seismic-rated support systems for large electrical and low-voltage pathways.
  • New system install, bending pipe, pulling wire, hookups, terminating, etc.
  • Assemble, modify, and install prefab electrical components, racks, and assemblies according to engineered drawings and project specifications.
  • Assist with core & shell electrical rough-in, including conduit routing, feeders, branch circuits, and equipment layout.
  • Support upcoming underground electrical work, including conduit routing, duct banks, vaults, grounding grids, and site electrical infrastructure.
  • Help establish and maintain temporary power systems for construction operations, including panels, transformers, cables, and distribution equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, one-lines, and installation details to execute work accurately and efficiently.
  • Install and secure cable trays, raceways, and conduit systems (EMT, RMC, PVC, and underground-rated materials).

Requirements

  • 10+ years of electrical experience in heavy commercial and industrial setting.
  • Texas Journeyman Electrical license (or reciprocal license) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical installation and large-scale construction environments.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools, conduit bending, and installation hardware.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Familiarity with prefab processes, materials, and jobsite logistics.
  • Must be able to safely use hand/power tools and PPE.
  • Must be able to perform job duties that require standing, crouching, twisting upper body, working at heights, and lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Position requires the use of PPE, including steel-toe work boots, safety vest, hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves.
  • Must have standard electrical hand tools.
  • Pre-employment drug screening required.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the job site.
